Primary Colors on Shades of Grey
Primary Colors on Shades of Grey
This is a new project to contrast the three primary colors (red, blue and yellow) against a monochrome background. The primary color bars are static yet diaphanous, and conform to equal sizes and shapes. Unlike the color bars, the background has a fluid movement that shifts from white to grey to black.
Initially, white gesso is painted on the acrylic panel and then Carbon Black acrylic paint is swirled into the gesso to move the image from white to black. Acrylic varnish is then applied to the entire painting as a sealer to protect the surface and to provide a matte finish.
